Xbox Still Has Numerous Announcements in Store

However, Duncan also brought news of a delay with the Fable reboot from Playground Games, now set for a 2026 release.

Xbox’s studios seem to be on quite a roll recently. After a stellar end to 2024 with the critically acclaimed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, 2025 is shaping up to be even more impressive. Just last week, Obsidian’s Avowed hit the shelves to positive reviews, while Compulsion Games is polishing its unique action adventure, South of Midnight, scheduled for an April release. Meanwhile, Doom: The Dark Ages is expected in May, and fans of The Outer Worlds can look forward to the sequel later this year. Beyond those, Xbox has a slew of significant projects underway, including a reboot of Perfect Dark, its BioShock-inspired RPG Clockwork Revolution, Gears of War: E-Day, and of course, Fable.

On the latest Official Xbox Podcast episode, Duncan aimed to reassure fans despite the Fable delay, hinting at the exciting projects lined up. He mentioned, “We’ve got a bunch of stuff we haven’t announced, so obviously I spend a lot of time with that…but yeah, we have lots going on.” This leaves the door wide open for speculation on what Xbox might reveal next.

Several first-party studios might soon lift the veil on their work. Take Double Fine, for instance, which hasn’t released anything new since Psychonauts 2 three years ago. Ninja Theory might also be prepping to unveil its next big title. Obsidian often has a team working on creative projects similar to Grounded or Pentiment. Moreover, new entries from popular franchises are anticipated, whether it’s Halo Studios’ upcoming Unreal Engine 5 offering or another installment from Playground’s Forza team. Bethesda and Activision Blizzard could also surprise us with fresh game announcements.
