Celebrated for their innovative handheld consoles, Ayaneo has just revealed their exciting new release: the Ayaneo 3. Following in the successful footsteps of its earlier model, the Ayaneo 3 boasts similar design aesthetics, yet it steps up the game with some impressive hardware enhancements.
On the Ayaneo official blog, they’ve detailed that gamers can choose between two powerhouse processors for this device. You can either go with the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U for solid performance or push the boundaries with the more potent AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. What’s really captivating is its display options—a vibrant seven-inch screen that comes in either an LCD with high refresh rates or a stunning OLED HDR. To enhance gameplay further, Ayaneo has also added two programmable buttons at the rear of the console for added customization.
While we’re eagerly waiting for more specifics about this cutting-edge device, Ayaneo has kept mum on details like price, RAM, and storage options. Looking back, the Ayaneo 2 offered variants with 16GB to 32GB of RAM and storage from 512GB up to a sizable 2TB. With prices kicking off at $1,099 and climbing to $1,549 if you fancied the special B.Duck edition, it’s probably safe to guess that the Ayaneo 3 will offer similar configurations at potentially a slightly higher cost.
This release marks Ayaneo’s bold entry into the realm of the latest chips, being among the first handhelds wielding the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Although current games might not fully utilize the NPU found in this chip, the processor’s additional cores, its Zen 5 architecture, and the integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU promise a performance leap over the already impressive Ryzen 7 8840U. This upgrade could make it outperform some of the top-tier PC gaming handhelds, most of which are driven by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The handheld market is crowded with contenders, but the Ayaneo 3’s entrance is highly anticipated. With rivals like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and the Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two slated for release soon, it will be interesting to see how Ayaneo plans to stand out. We’re all eager to see what unique gameplay experiences they will bring to handheld console enthusiasts.
