In the past year, Konami saw a significant boost in its video game revenue, largely thanks to the remake of Silent Hill 2. For the nine-month period ending in December 2024, the company’s earnings in this area surged by 32%.
Diving into the numbers, Konami’s financial results for this timeframe reveal that their gaming division pulled in ¥228.9 billion, which translates to about $1.4 billion. What’s more impressive is the profit, which jumped by an impressive 44.6%, reaching ¥80.8 billion, or $521 million. To put it in perspective, this profit surpasses Konami’s own forecast for the entire fiscal year, which was set at ¥80 billion.
The Digital Entertainment sector, notably the video games segment, played a starring role for Konami, contributing 73.6% of the company’s total revenue. This marks an increase from 68.5% for the same period in the previous year, ending December 2023.
Highlighting the standout achievements, Konami pointed to the Silent Hill 2 remake as a key factor in its strong financial performance. The survival horror game managed to ship two million copies by January 2025 since its release in October 2024.
Adding to the company’s triumphs, the eFootball series has also enjoyed widespread popularity, with over 800 million downloads to date.
