According to recent reports from Variety, there’s a movie version of the newly released game, Split Fiction, currently in the works. The project is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen, a team already known for their work on various game-to-film adaptations. They’ve previously partnered with Amazon for the film adaptation of Hazelight’s earlier hit, It Takes Two, and are also developing projects based on games like Toejam and Earl, Slim Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
It seems that Hollywood’s big players are keen to get involved, with several top studios showing strong interest in bringing Split Fiction to the big screen.
Released just this past March, Split Fiction made an impressive debut, selling over a million copies in its first 48 hours. By the end of its first week, that figure had doubled, reaching a remarkable two million copies sold.
The creators, Hazelight Studios, expressed their awe on Bluesky after reaching this milestone, saying, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing. Thank you to all of our new and old fans – we love how excited you are for our game.”
Meanwhile, the movie adaptation of It Takes Two features none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and boasts writing by the talented team of Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who are known for their work on Sonic the Hedgehog.
