There have been countless attempts by fans to integrate elements from one Fallout game into another, but now there’s a fresh twist: someone is bringing the iconic Fallout: New Vegas into a platform where it strangely fits—the world of The Sims 2. Introducing The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-made ‘remaster’ project that beautifully exemplifies the creativity that emerges when Fallout enthusiasts have some spare time on their hands.
This venture is still in progress, with its dedicated subreddit first spotlighted by TheGamer. The project is spearheaded by Baron Pulitzer, known online as FalloutPropMaster, who by day runs an independent film production company. For about a week now, Baron has been sharing updates on this intriguing project.
In their initial post, Baron explained the motivation behind the project: “I’ve grown tired of waiting for a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. My dream is to see a remaster that also brings back some of the cut content that was part of the in-house Beta version of the game.”
Baron was inspired to take on this ambitious task after coming across some ModTheSims uploads by a user named ‘lilipad’, who recreated a few casinos from the New Vegas Strip for The Sims 2. This sparked an idea to faithfully remake New Vegas within the confines of The Sims 2. Despite having a background in modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Baron saw this as a learning opportunity since they hadn’t worked with The Sims before.
Over the past week, Baron dabbled with tools like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope, finding the experience both nostalgically rewarding and a novel way to spend leisure time.
So far, updates have included the layout planning of the Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, which will feature iconic locations like The Strip and Freeside. They’ve also recreated Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon—an essential starting point for such an endeavor.
Moreover, character development is underway. There are snapshots of Vulpes Inculta, the beloved Legionnaire, mingling with a couple of ghouls and playing kickball. Another screenshot shows a group of companions likely engaging in camaraderie, possibly swapping tales about being used by a certain postman as bullet shields while he simultaneously downs an excessive number of stimpaks.
There’s also a cool reveal of an updated user interface in TS2, inspired by classic Fallout aesthetics.
For enthusiasts of The Sims 2, especially those engaged with the Legacy Collection remaster, this project is worth tracking. If you’re pining for another romp through the Mojave—perhaps as a cannibal with intentions to eat Mr. House, unintentionally souring relations with Caesar, and carving out your own path independently from the NCR—The Sims 2: New Vegas might just become your next obsession.
