The Polish game developer, People Can Fly, is diving back into familiar territory with their renewed involvement in the iconic Gears of War series.
In an update shared on their website, the studio announced its role in developing the much-anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, in collaboration with Xbox’s renowned first-party studio, The Coalition. People Can Fly isn’t new to this franchise; they were the creative force behind 2013’s Gears of War: Judgment and played a supportive role with the earlier main entries in the popular sci-fi shooter series.
Sebastian Wojciechowski, the CEO of People Can Fly, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “It’s an incredible honor to return to this legendary saga. We see this as a thrilling opportunity to enhance the gripping action and rich storytelling that the fans adore.” He continued, “We’re truly thankful for the trust and support our partners have shown us on this journey.”
Mike Crump, head of The Coalition studio, shared his thoughts as well: “With Gears of War: E-Day, we’re not just launching another big game; we’re reviving the core elements that make Gears of War unique and true to its essence. We’re excited to collaborate once again with the talented team at People Can Fly, whose contributions have been an integral part of our franchise’s story for years.”
It’s worth noting that People Can Fly had a challenging year, having had to reduce their workforce by over 150 employees during 2024. Despite the hurdles, their return to Gears of War marks a significant and promising step forward.
