In the ever-evolving landscape of gaming mods, Stardew Valley enthusiasts have something new to get excited about. The Sunberry Village mod introduces an entirely new town to explore, along with a host of other features that promise to enhance the beloved farming simulator experience. Despite its release back in 2016, Stardew Valley remains a thriving hub for modders, with dedicated fans continuously developing new content to expand the game’s already extensive world. This vibrant community helps keep the game fresh and relevant, nearly a decade after its initial launch.
Stardew Valley owes much of its enduring appeal to both official updates and a passionate fan base eager to add their creative touch. Developer Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, has consistently updated the game, most recently in February 2025. With new festivals, locations, and items, Barone has kept the game enriched while simultaneously working on his next project, The Haunted Chocolatier. However, he isn’t alone in his dedication; a testament to this is the formidable Sunberry Village mod.
Debuting on Nexus Mods on March 15, 2025, Sunberry Village injects fresh life into Stardew Valley by introducing a vibrant new hamlet south of Pelican Town. Created by the collaborative efforts of skellady, sophiesalacia, and The Sunberry Team, the mod arrives with over 15 new NPCs, numerous events, and additional crops and items, making the already content-rich game even more immersive. This isn’t a solitary large-scale addition, either—earlier in March, a Baldur’s Gate-inspired mod made waves with similarly hefty offerings.
Diving into Sunberry Village, players can indulge in visits to a charming cat café, a stylish clothing store, a fragrant flower shop, another blacksmith, and an inviting inn. Alongside these are new quests, storylines, mines, and monstrous creatures awaiting those who prefer a bit of combat and exploration. And the creators of Sunberry Village aren’t resting on their laurels; they’ve promised to keep expanding, with new characters arriving as soon as March 21. There’s a possibility we’ll see future items and areas as well, given that this is just the first full version of the expansion. ConcernedApe has famously mentioned he could still be working on Stardew Valley decades from now; it seems the modding community is just as committed to its ongoing evolution.
Looking ahead, we can expect more official content, although recent efforts have mainly focused on refining gameplay following the landmark 1.6 update. While Barone hasn’t announced a release date for Haunted Chocolatier, his second project’s development might impact further Stardew Valley updates. Nevertheless, history shows his ability to juggle multiple projects, keeping Stardew Valley alive against the odds. Regardless of future official updates, a wealth of fan-created content remains available for intrepid explorers of Pelican Town and beyond.
