Acer has just rolled out a new lineup in their graphics card collection, introducing six fresh models in the Radeon RX 9070 series. These models boast impressive base and overclocked (OC) versions, with some pushing boost clocks up to a remarkable 3.1 GHz.
Acer, traditionally not the most prominent player in the AMD graphics card space, has stepped up with a substantial new offering. They’ve unveiled the BiFrost and Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 models, with the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC catching eyes at a hefty price tag of $829. This marks a significant expansion in their RDNA 4 GPU range, demonstrating Acer’s commitment to stepping up in the competitive landscape of graphic cards.
Among the six new cards, two are Nitro editions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, complemented by a BiFrost edition for each model as well. The BiFrost cards focus on top-notch aesthetics and superior cooling technology, appealing to those who prioritize performance and style. Meanwhile, the Nitro models target a broader market, offering solid specs without compromising quality.
Delving into specifics, let’s start with the BiFrost editions. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is equipped with a triple-fan cooling setup encased in a sleek shroud, accented by unique silver highlights around the middle fan. It features FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and innovative counter-spin technology for optimal heat management. This model spans about 295 mm in length and occupies a 2.5-slot space. Prepped with a factory overclock stretching to 3.1 GHz, it’s made for gamers seeking serious performance.
The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB mirrors its sibling in design but opts for two 8-pin power connectors rather than the three on the XT version. Notably, both cards carry a 340W power rating, even though the RX 9070 typically demands less juice. While the two 8-pin and PCI-E x16 slots suffice for 340W, there isn’t much wiggle room for overclocking on the standard RX 9070, unlike its XT counterpart.
Next, the Acer Nitro series showcases both OC and non-OC versions for the RX 9070 lineup. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC also sports a triple-fan design, hitting the same 3.1 GHz boost clock, and retains dimensions similar to the BiFrost edition. It’s powered by three 8-pin connectors and holds a 340W thermal design power (TDP). Meanwhile, the non-OC variant, rated at 304W, maintains those three power connectors. In non-overclocked scenarios, it can still reach up to 2970 MHz and 2.4 GHz in game mode.
Rounding out the offerings are the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB models, reaching clock speeds of up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz respectively. The OC model sits at 245W in terms of power draw, while the standard model is slightly lower at 220W, yet they both share a common design aesthetic.
While Acer has yet to divulge all the pricing details for these new GPUs, they have announced that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will retail at an impressive $829.99, with the BiFrost version likely commanding an even steeper price. As for availability, expect the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC to hit the U.S. market by April.
