The gaming landscape is buzzing with the recent news that The Molasses Flood, a developer based in Boston, has officially joined forces with the Polish gaming powerhouse, CD Projekt Red.
Shared on The Molasses Flood’s own site, they announced that as of April 1st, they’re no longer an independent studio, now becoming part of the Cyberpunk 2077 creator’s family. It’s important to note, however, that this merger won’t impact their earlier projects, The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were developed before CD Projekt acquired them in 2021. Currently, the team is focused on Project Sirius, an eagerly anticipated multiplayer game set in The Witcher universe.
Amidst these changes, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has decided to step away from the studio.
Reflecting on this transition, Isla expressed on LinkedIn, “This marks a significant shift for me. TMF has been a major chapter in my life over the last decade and more. I take immense pride in having been part of something that endured in a market that’s often tough on small teams like ours. We managed to create some unique, beautiful, and memorable experiences, and I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the most talented, kind-hearted, and generous individuals in this industry.”
