In the exciting world of Final Fantasy 14, Patch 7.2 is all set to bring a welcome change: players will now be able to summon mounts while they’re on the go, as long as they’re in an area where the fast travel system operates. This tweak, though small, promises to significantly enhance the player experience and is set to debut with the major content update on March 25.
Just recently, during the second Letter from the Producer LIVE for Patch 7.2, titled “Seekers of Eternity,” fans were treated to details about the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. This major update brings a plethora of new content, from fresh Main Scenario quests and a continuation of the Arcadion raid to Cosmic Exploration, the Occult Crescent, and Hildibrand quests. And even more adventures are slated for the coming months.
Among these exciting announcements is a lesser-known but equally delightful feature coming in Patch 7.2. Revealed during the Live Letter, director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced that players would gain the ability to call their mounts without halting their stride. This change extends to both PvP and PvE content wherever mounts are usually accessible.
Traditionally, summoning a mount in Final Fantasy 14 required a brief pause—very brief, about one second—but it could be interrupted if players moved too soon. Thanks to Patch 7.2, this obstacle is a thing of the past. Yoshida acknowledged that fans might need to unlearn some well-practiced habits but reassured them that the new feature would be enjoyable.
This isn’t the only quality-of-life feature players can look forward to in Patch 7.2. Once the update launches, players will automatically receive a Jog buff, offering a slight speed boost after Sprint fades away. This perk appears to be limitless in duration and can be used across varying locales—cities, zones, instances—though it deactivates during combat. The intricate details of this gameplay change will be fully unveiled when the patch notes drop shortly before the update.
All these changes and improvements are arriving on March 25 with Patch 7.2, and players should prepare for a 24-hour maintenance window preceding the major update. So, if you have Moogles to hunt, PvP rewards to collect, or other lingering tasks from the past updates, now’s the time to wrap them up before this exciting new chapter unfolds.
