Nintendo recently highlighted the importance of exclusive games for the debut of Nintendo Switch 2. This insight was shared in response to a shareholder’s inquiry about the future release strategy for new Nintendo Switch titles once its successor hits the market.
Addressing the question, Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, elaborated on the topic. He noted, “We’ve already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which are slated to arrive on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Given the popularity of the current Switch, we’re keen on continuing to develop and roll out captivating games for it.” Furukawa stressed that exclusive titles will play a significant role when introducing new hardware. He added, “Our focus will be on devising strategies for both the Nintendo Switch and its upcoming successor, aiming to attract a broad audience to experience our games.”
Those eager for more details about the new console should mark their calendars for a Nintendo Direct presentation. The Nintendo Switch 2 showcase is scheduled to air at 6am PT, 9am ET, 2pm BST, and 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2nd.
As for the global release of the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s planned for 2025, though the exact date remains under wraps.
