Last week, Sony dropped some exciting news for Days Gone fans: a PS5 remaster is on the horizon. However, there’s a twist for those who snagged the game through PS Plus.
Some of you might recall—it’s hard to keep track since Sony spoils us with free games monthly—Days Gone was once a part of the PS Plus lineup. If you claimed it then, it’s likely sitting in your library now. The revelation of a PS5 remaster is especially thrilling because owners of the PS4 version can upgrade for just $10. Great deal, right? Well, here’s the catch: this upgrade deal is only for folks who bought a physical or digital copy, not those who got it via PS Plus.
Bend Studio, in their announcement, detailed the upgrade situation, clearly stating, “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” This decision might come off as a head-scratcher to some, especially since many would probably be more than willing to shell out 10 bucks for the upgrade. Perhaps Sony crunched the numbers and figured they might earn more from full-price remaster purchases.
Days Gone originally hit PS4 in 2019, and while reviews were mixed, the game seemed to do well in sales. Despite its commercial success, a sequel never came to life, and Bend Studio confirmed last year that one isn’t in the cards. Although a movie adaptation was announced in 2022, little has surfaced about it since then. This remaster might be the game’s final curtain call.
Mark your calendars—Days Gone Remastered is set for release on April 25th for PS5 and PC. Looking forward to seeing how this remaster breathes new life into the world of Deacon St. John!
