Major Upcoming Xbox Game Might Also Launch on PS5 on Day 1

There’s a rumor buzzing around that Fable could hit the PlayStation 5 right alongside its launch on the Xbox Series X/S and PC. This potential PS5 release isn’t entirely out of the blue; fans of Sony’s console have been speculating about it and now have a reason to feel a little more hopeful as the game edges closer to its expected release in 2025.

Initially, only PC and Xbox Series X/S were the confirmed platforms when Fable’s release timeline was announced in June 2024. But things might have shifted since then. Xbox seems to be rethinking its stance on exclusivity, with Microsoft Gaming’s CEO, Phil Spencer, pushing to introduce first-party titles to a broader audience. Late in 2024, Jez Corden from Windows Central hinted that although Fable might not hit the PS5 on day one, it’s likely it’ll eventually land there, helping Microsoft offset the hefty development costs.

While fans are itching to revisit the world of Albion, the latest reveal from Playground Games hasn’t entirely hit the mark for everyone. The reveal trailer for what some call Fable 4 wasn’t universally loved, with gripes about the main character’s appearance and calls for character customization. Nonetheless, many praised its rich environments and solid voice acting, hinting at mixed yet hopeful expectations from the community.

As it stands, Fable is anticipated to drop in 2025, though patience might be needed as the actual release could lean towards late in the year. More details about the game are expected to come after Avowed, another action RPG, launches in February.
